Race Day Kit
New to Triathlon and don’t know what to pack. Hopefully the following list will give a guide on what things you can consider come race day.
Before / After Race
- Race belt – Handy to have as some races they are compulsory
- Chip strap – Usually with your start packs for big races
- Race number – Again will come with starter packs at big races
- Tri M/ship number – If you are a member
- Basic 1st Aid kit – Optional extra
- Nutrition – A must for pre, during and post race
- Raceday Clothing – Fairly important you look like you belong.
- Watch/HRM- Good for tracking purposes – really handy to make sure or your tech is charged the night before
- Watch/Bike rechargers – Take them with you when you go away for racing.
- Recovery sandals/Recovery tights – if you feel the need post race
- Post race apparel – Can be the same kit you rock up in
Swim
- Wetsuit – take it at all times and use to your advantage
- 2 Pairs of goggles – one may snap
- Swim cap – often supplied in start pack for wave starts
- 2 x Transition towels- one for your feet during transition the other for post race
- Water proof sunscreen
- Anti friction lube – for around neck of wetsuit
- Anti fog – for goggles
Bike
- Helmet – can’t race without it
- Bike shoes – handy addition when riding a bike
- Sunglasses – they look cool and stops getting bugs in the eyes
- Water bottles – don’t want you dying of thirst
- Nutritional supplements
- Spare Tube – Punctures do happen on race
- CO2 Cartridges- smaller than a pump, however ask about how to do pre race day.
- Bike tools- mostly tyre levers for the flat.
- Bike pump- Pressure test pre race
Run
- Race day shoes
- Nutritional gels
- Hat/Visor
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
